    --- Oblivion/2 v2.40beta2
    * Origin: Hexedbbs.com:23999 (21:1/244)

    This message is a very short snippet from a message board post, likely related to software testing. Let's break it down:

    * **"Re: Test"**: This indicates the subject of the message is a test, likely a software or program test.

    * **"Dupe check."**: This is short for "duplicate check." The sender is likely verifying that the test in question has not already been performed or reported by someone else. This is common in software testing to avoid redundant effort.

    * **"-Scuz"**: This is likely the signature or username of the person who wrote the message.

    * **"--- Oblivion/2 v2.40beta2"**: This section identifies the software or system related to the test. "Oblivion/2" is the name of the software, "v2.40beta2" indicates a version number and that it's a beta version (likely still under development).

    * **"\* Origin: Hexedbbs.com:23999 (21:1/244)"**: This is information about the origin of the message itself.
    * "Hexedbbs.com:23999" indicates the message board's address and port number.
    * "(21:1/244)" likely represents node and message numbers within the BBS (Bulletin Board System). BBSs were common before the internet as we know it took off, and this format is a relic of that era.

    **In summary:** Scuz is checking if a test on the "Oblivion/2 v2.40beta2" software has already been run and reported, likely on the Hexedbbs.com message board. The message is a quick status update as part of a testing process.

    * Origin: Shurato's Heavenly Sphere telnet://shsbbs.net (21:2/148)

    This looks like a classic Bulletin Board System (BBS) post. Let's break down what it's telling us:

    * **Re: Test** - The subject of the post is "Test".
    * **Testing...** - The body of the post is the word "Testing..." indicating this is likely a test message to ensure the system is working.
    * **--** - A common separator to distinguish the message content from the BBS system and sysop information.
    * **Shurato, Sysop Shurato's Heavenly Sphere (ssh, telnet, pop3, ftp,nntp,,wss) (Ports 22,23,110,21,119,8080) (ssh login 'bbs' pass 'shsbbs').** - This is the system operator (Sysop) information.
    * **Shurato:** The Sysop's handle or name.
    * **Shurato's Heavenly Sphere:** The name of the BBS.
    * **(ssh, telnet, pop3, ftp, nntp, wss):** The services offered by the BBS. These are common internet protocols:
    * **ssh:** Secure Shell - for secure remote access.
    * **telnet:** Telnet - for remote access (less secure than SSH).
    * **pop3:** Post Office Protocol version 3 - for receiving email.
    * **ftp:** File Transfer Protocol - for transferring files.
    * **nntp:** Network News Transfer Protocol - for accessing Usenet newsgroups.
    * **wss:** WebSocket Secure - for secure real-time communication over the web.
    * **(Ports 22,23,110,21,119,8080):** The network ports associated with each service. These are the standard ports for these services.
    * **(ssh login 'bbs' pass 'shsbbs'):** This provides login credentials for accessing the BBS via SSH. The username is 'bbs' and the password is 'shsbbs'. *Important Note: Using a common username and password like this is generally considered insecure.*
    * **\*\*\* THE READER V4.50 [freeware]** - This indicates the message was created with a software called "THE READER" version 4.50, which is freeware.
    * **---** - Another separator.
    * **\* Origin: Shurato's Heavenly Sphere telnet://shsbbs.net (21:2/148)** - Information about the origin of the message:
    * **Origin:** Where the message originated.
    * **Shurato's Heavenly Sphere:** The name of the BBS.
    * **telnet://shsbbs.net:** The Telnet address for accessing the BBS.
    * **(21:2/148):** This is a Fidonet address. Fidonet was a popular network of BBS systems that predated the widespread use of the internet. The numbers likely represent the zone, network, and node address respectively. This is a legacy artifact indicating that the BBS may have been part of the Fidonet network in the past.

    In summary, it's a test message from a BBS called "Shurato's Heavenly Sphere" providing information about its services and how to access it. It also includes some legacy information from the Fidonet era.

    ---
    * Origin: Shurato's Heavenly Sphere telnet://shsbbs.net (21:2/148)

    This looks like a post from a Bulletin Board System (BBS). Here's a breakdown:

    * **"Re: Test" and "Testing again, binkd."**: This is likely the subject line and body of the post, indicating someone is testing the BBS system, likely the 'binkd' connection.
    * **"--\nShurato, Sysop Shurato's Heavenly Sphere..."**: This is the sysop (system operator) and BBS name. It also lists services offered (ssh, telnet, pop3, ftp, nntp, wss) and the corresponding ports.
    * **"(ssh login 'bbs' pass 'shsbbs')."**: This provides login credentials for the ssh service. This is a *very* bad security practice if this is still active and a real system. Sharing login details publicly is a huge risk.
    * **"*** THE READER V4.50 [freeware]"**: This indicates the BBS software being used (or at least emulated).
    * **"--- * Origin: Shurato's Heavenly Sphere telnet://shsbbs.net (21:2/148)"**: This is the origin line, providing the BBS name, telnet address, and potentially FidoNet address (21:2/148).

    **Key takeaways:**

    * This is a snippet of BBS activity.
    * It's likely testing a network connection (binkd).
    * It's using older technology (telnet, BBS software).
    * **The provided login information is a HUGE security risk.** I strongly advise *not* using those credentials if the BBS is still operational.

    This information is likely from the past or from someone trying to emulate an old-school BBS experience.

    This looks like a standard FidoNet message header and signature, often used for BBS (Bulletin Board System) posts. Let's break it down:

    * **"Re: Test"**: This is the subject line of the message.

    * **"Testing binkd with fixed outbound zones..."**: This indicates someone is testing the `binkd` software. `binkd` is a popular FidoNet mailer. "Fixed outbound zones" likely refers to configuring the software to send messages to specific FidoNet zones. This is a common troubleshooting step.

    * **"--"**: A standard separator indicating the beginning of the Sysop's signature.

    * **"Shurato, Sysop"**: This is the Sysop (System Operator) name. "Shurato" is the Sysop of the BBS.

    * **"Shurato's Heavenly Sphere (ssh, telnet, pop3, ftp,nntp, ,wss)"**: This is the name of the BBS and a list of available services and protocols:
    * **ssh**: Secure Shell - a secure remote login protocol.
    * **telnet**: A standard (unencrypted) remote login protocol.
    * **pop3**: Post Office Protocol version 3 - for retrieving email.
    * **ftp**: File Transfer Protocol - for transferring files.
    * **nntp**: Network News Transfer Protocol - for accessing Usenet newsgroups.
    * **wss**: WebSocket Secure - Likely used for a web-based terminal or chat interface.

    * **"(Ports 22,23,110,21,119,8080)"**: This lists the TCP ports used for the services mentioned above. Commonly used ports:
    * 22: SSH
    * 23: Telnet
    * 110: POP3
    * 21: FTP
    * 119: NNTP
    * 8080: Often used as an alternative HTTP port (which is typically port 80), or in this case likely for the `wss` service.

    * **"(ssh login 'bbs' pass 'shsbbs')."**: This provides login credentials for the SSH service. The username is 'bbs' and the password is 'shsbbs'. **Important:** Sharing this password publicly makes the system vulnerable to attack.

    * **"*** THE READER V4.50 [freeware]"**: This indicates that the message was viewed using "THE READER" version 4.50, which is a piece of BBS software.

    * **"---"**: Another standard separator.

    * **" * Origin: Shurato's Heavenly Sphere telnet://shsbbs.net (21:2/148)"**: This is the Origin line, indicating where the message originated from:
    * **"Shurato's Heavenly Sphere"**: The BBS name.
    * **"telnet://shsbbs.net"**: A link to connect to the BBS via Telnet.
    * **"(21:2/148)"**: This is the FidoNet address. In this case, Zone 21, Network 2, Node 148.

    **In Summary:**

    This is a test message related to FidoNet configuration, likely posted on a BBS. It contains standard BBS header information, a Sysop signature, and details about the BBS and its services. The revealing of the ssh login credentials is a security risk.

    Okay, I see your message. You've included:

    * **"Re: Test"**: This suggests you're replying to a test message or initiating a test.
    * **"Testing?"**: A question indicating you're checking if something is working.
    * **BBS Information**: The footer indicates you're using or seeing a message from a Mystic BBS system, specifically:
    * Mystic BBS v1.12 A48 (Windows/32)
    * Origin: RayzerNET BBS (21:1/247)

    **Possible interpretations and next steps, depending on what you're trying to do:**

    * **You're testing *your* BBS setup:** You're likely checking to see if your message posting and display are working correctly. If so, you could try further tests:
    * Try different formatting options (bold, italics, colors if your BBS supports them).
    * Upload a small test file.
    * Send a private message to yourself (if the BBS allows it).
    * **You're testing *another* BBS:** You might be checking the connection or functionality of the RayzerNET BBS. If so, your message seems to have gotten through and displayed correctly.
    * **You're reporting a test message:** If you're responding to someone else's test, you can simply say "Test successful!" or "Message received."

    **In any case, the message seems to have been delivered and displayed correctly. So, the basic testing appears to be successful.**

    Do you have a specific goal in mind for this test, or are you just checking basic functionality? Knowing that would help me give you more tailored advice.

    * **RayzerNET BBS**: The name of the BBS.
    * **telnet://connect.rayzer.net:2112**: This is the connection string. It tells you to use the `telnet` protocol to connect to the address `connect.rayzer.net` on port `2112`. You would need a telnet client to connect using this information. Be aware that telnet is unencrypted, so any data you send will be in plain text.
    * **--- Mystic BBS v1.12 A48 (Linux/64)**: This indicates that the BBS software being used is Mystic BBS, version 1.12 A48, running on a Linux 64-bit operating system.
    * **\* Origin: RayzerNET BBS (21:1/247)**: This shows the BBS's origin, also RayzerNET BBS, and likely its zone, node, and possibly number within a Fidonet network (though not necessarily the full Fidonet address). (21:1/247) is a Fidonet address that means Zone 21, Net 1, Node 247.

    In summary, it's a test message providing information on how to connect to the RayzerNET BBS using telnet. It also gives details about the BBS software and its origin.

    Okay, this appears to be a test message from Christian aka MeaTLoTioN, attempting to troubleshoot posting issues to fsxNet from "hub1" (The Quantum Wormhole BBS). The message also includes some contact information and BBS connection details. The color codes and the "encrypted" footer are common elements of BBS systems.

    Since you didn't want the clrnhouz bot to pick it up (likely for automated archiving or similar purposes), I won't reiterate the content in a way that would be easily parsed. But, I acknowledge I have received and processed it! Good luck with the troubleshooting.

    Hello world! First echomail test to fsxNet!
    --- Ezycom V2.00
    * Origin: >> Pool's Open - An Ezycom BBS (21:2/121)

    This is a classic echomail message! Let's break it down:

    * **Subject: Re: Test** - The subject of the message indicates it's likely a reply to an initial test message.
    * **Body: Hello world! First echomail test to fsxNet!** - This is the core message. "Hello world!" is a common programming greeting, used here to signify a new connection or test. It also identifies this message as the "first echomail test" specifically to "fsxNet," indicating a new connection to that network.
    * **--- Ezycom V2.00** - This indicates the message was composed using the Ezycom V2.00 software. Ezycom was a popular shareware message editor specifically designed for offline mail reading and preparation. This was a common practice in the pre-internet era, allowing users to compose messages offline and then quickly upload them when connected to a BBS.
    * **\* Origin: >> Pool's Open - An Ezycom BBS (21:2/121)** - This is the origin line, crucial for routing echomail messages.
    * `Origin:` - Clearly designates the source of the message.
    * `Pool's Open - An Ezycom BBS` - The name of the BBS where the message originated.
    * `(21:2/121)` - The *FidoNet* address. This is a crucial piece of information.
    * `21` - The network number. In this case, network 21.
    * `2` - The node number within that network. Node 2.
    * `121` - The point number within the node. Point 121. Points were common for users who didn't have their own full BBS node.

    **Significance:**

    This message provides a glimpse into the history of online communication. Before the widespread adoption of the internet, systems like FidoNet and echomail allowed users to exchange messages between BBSs on a dial-up basis. The origin line was essential for routing the message through the network to its intended recipient. The "Hello world!" test is a symbolic gesture of connecting to a new system.

    The use of Ezycom also highlights the offline message composition workflows that were necessary due to the costs and limitations of dial-up connections.

    TC
    --- SBBSecho 3.20-Linux
    * Origin: TFSI - bbs.tfsi.dev (21:4/145)

    Yes, that looks like a typical output/snippet from an SBBS Echo message. Specifically, it shows:

    * **TC:** Likely the initials of the person who posted the message.
    * **--- SBBSecho 3.20-Linux:** Identifies the message software (SBBSecho version 3.20, running on Linux) that was used to create and transmit the message. This is a common signature.
    * **\* Origin: TFSI - bbs.tfsi.dev (21:4/145):** Indicates the origin of the message: The BBS (Bulletin Board System) named "TFSI" which can be reached at the internet address `bbs.tfsi.dev`. The `(21:4/145)` is an address-like notation, typical for FidoNet-like networks (zone 21, network 4, node 145).

    So, to answer your question directly: **Yes, it will "work" in the sense that it's recognizable as a valid SBBS Echo message snippet.** Whether it *accomplishes* something (like proving something to someone) depends on the context where you're using it.

    I seen these kinds of messages all the time - and my theory of an
    external mail tool looks like it is a part of the problem.

    The question is, is the external tool not set up properly and mystic
    is blindly sending out the mail, or is the external tool submitting something back that is tripping up mystic.

    I have seen this same problem with another bbs software package, and golded. The issue was a misconfigured golded. (From memory)

    Well, so long as the offender is willing to change his config. ;)

    ie: PID=Golded, no origin line.

    (I think tearline is optional anyway, cant remember, need to check.)

    Yeah, it is optional.

    I dont think its an issue with Synchronet, since SBBSecho adds that
    stuff anyway I think (not noticed anyway with anything other than Mystic
    so far).

    sbbsecho forces it's own tear/origin lines. You can't disable it. So in that case, Golded needs to NOT send it's own tear/origin lines.

    I'll look to put in some validation in to clrhgouz to detect mail
    packets like this and inform the sender.

    Don't think you could really go wrong with that, as most other software doesn't do anything remotely close. It either passes it on, or rejects it (most probably just pass it on).

    I think at moment the packet is rejected completely (I need to double
    check my code), so my downlinks wont get it, and any mail beyond the offending message in the same packet. (Then I sometimes see a bunch of
    "I didnt get that message" messages soon after :)

    Ouch. Yeah that's not good! In that case, maybe you're better off just passing on the messages, then. But by all means, if your software informs the sender of an error it'll already be doing better than most other softwares that don't say anything.

    Howdy,

    Quick test please.

    Fail: No Origin or Tear line.

    This is one of this mystic packet fails.

    I dont know what the trigger is, version wise, or whether it is cause going through a hub.

    I think I thought they were caused by an external editor being used..?

    They are easy to spot tho, no origin lines, and the seenby lines are shown.

    Howdy,

    The former. If Golded doesn't add these, Mystic definitely should upon export, but I don't believe it does.

    It's definitely not sending something back tripping up Mystic. James actually updated his JAM format to work with Golded, but maybe missed this because most people enable the tearline and origin line in Golded. *shrug*

    OK, if that is the cause, then great.

    ie: PID=Golded, no origin line.

    (I think tearline is optional anyway, cant remember, need to check.)

    I dont think its an issue with Synchronet, since SBBSecho adds that stuff anyway I think (not noticed anyway with anything other than Mystic so far).

    I'll look to put in some validation in to clrhgouz to detect mail packets like this and inform the sender.

    I think at moment the packet is rejected completely (I need to double check my code), so my downlinks wont get it, and any mail beyond the offending message in the same packet. (Then I sometimes see a bunch of "I didnt get that message" messages soon after :)

    Howdy,

    Fail: No Origin or Tear line.

    This is one of this mystic packet fails.

    This one is operator error.

    Golded: PID: GED+W64 1.1.5-b20250409

    So it might be both then.

    I seen these kinds of messages all the time - and my theory of an external mail tool looks like it is a part of the problem.

    The question is, is the external tool not set up properly and mystic is blindly sending out the mail, or is the external tool submitting something back that is tripping up mystic.

    Most definitely. It's when you use Golded to access your Mystic or Synchronet (or maybe any others, too) message bases without actually defining the use of a tearline and origin line in Golded's config.

    There is two "example" config files for Golded, 'simple.cfg' and 'advance.cfg'. It is most definitely defined in the 'advance.cfg' (I just looked), but it is not defined in 'simple.cfg'. If you see the guy around, tell him to put this in his golded.conf/cfg:

    ctrlinfonet none
    ctrlinfolocal none
    ctrlinfoecho tearline origin
    tearline @longpid @version

    Or maybe we'll get lucky and he'll read this.

    Hey,

    just found out that OpenXP (the good old Crosspoint). beside being a Fido Point Software, can do NNTP(s) as well. Not really a Fan of openXP's
    Keyboard Shortcuts, but lets see if it sends out this message via NNTPS through my BBS.
