Hi Folks,, toying with the idea of putting my old WC5 back online, I have a 2 line system with PX 2.0 along with the wcICP I can get it online with no issues with the 2 lines, but I want to bring in my message network echo's in addition to adding my Door Server and File library server. The servers I know I can handle with TelnetDoor if I can't get RLOGIN support which is no big deal.. The networks seem to be a big deal.. I was reading some files which say I can use a IREX/PX combo with netserial, and some other files which say I can use other files.. Is anyone else running WC5 out there? If so what are you using? I know I can upgrade to 8.0 and there should be no issues, but I can't justify paying $200 for a year of AUP (which from what I have been hearing is not always up) and another $xxx for a 8 line upgrade to give me 10 lines (Which lets be honest would never EVER be filled with callers so 2 lines is plenty).. I am more looking for the retro feel of the older system, including running it on NT4 which runs pretty well in a VM..

Anyone have any suggestions or advice??

    AL

The setup you propose is running software I ran 20+ years ago, I used to run WC5 on NT4 with PXW v2.0 and Internet Rex so it should not have any issue
    other than possible security issues.

I would not bother with Netserial, use Internet Rex v2.29 which allow you to connect BinkP which is the majority of systems.

Give it a try and see how it works out.

I run 8.x as well. I would recommend just using PX/WINS and IREX and foregot the NetSerial option completely. Will be much easier in the long run.

I would actually recommend getting the free PX/WINS v3.0 updates as
that update works MUCH better with Internet Rex.
