It is really silent here in WINSnet.

Some of you know, that I'm new in Wildcat.

But... as I got trouble to registrate my InternetRex (now I'm registrated).. I thought about Platinum Express which I've bought from Santronics, too.

Most of the Hosts using the BinkP to poll a Host/Node. Some using as 2nd the Platinum Express Program in combination with Netserial.

I've wrote to santronics, if they planned to combine both into next Platinum Xpress Version.

You guess...? No response! But I think, that would be a good upgrade Version 8.xx of Platinum. Everthing in one Hand for Wildcat Sysop's.

What do you think about it?

And..... I got the feeling, that Hector and Andrea are very quite....

It is unlikely that PXW will ever be upgraded as it was written in Delphi so would probably require a complete re-write using another programming language. Getting Hector to update WINS is already a slow process, he is now using ChatGPT to write updates which has helped.

So at this stage there is no choice but to use PXW and Internet Rex.

Long time ago there was a time, where BBS Programmer heared on wishes from the buyer's (Sysop's). And it was the right way to do that!

One the one hand, we (the Sysop's) are an extinct species. And on the other hand there was a company, which do in my opinion, commercial mistakes.

Another example: No Handbook for a complex product (with examples, etc.). If you start this Hobby, you need a lot of Information, more than a short explaining of the menues. And it is sometimes hard, when the Help is in a other native language.

I guess, everything on Santronics is on the back burner (hope I write it right?).

And on their way it will be hard to find new buyers/interesting people.

That's my opinion....

Unfortunately once SSI took over from MSI and it became a one man show for
most of the time upgrades and improvments slowed. Most of the money coming
into to SSI was from commerical businesses using WINS to run secure Intranets, the hobby sysop was basically a sideline income.

MSI made the manuals and passed on the remaining manuals to SSI when they
took over but unfortunately I unnderstand the software for the manuals were lost. I guess the manuals could have been scanned and then updated but I guess SSI weren't willing to spend the money to do that.

WINS is slowly being updated which is a definite positive.
