• Change of season

Got my last distance run (5k) for the year on Friday. After that, track season starts. Looking forward to seeing what effect special training that I've done over winter has.

Ive been into working out for a long time now. I really need to get back into running tho. Really enjoyed running when I was in the Marine Corps. We would run Monday, Weds, Friday, and I would run on my own almost every night. Definitely helped that I was stationed in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii. The best time I ever had was 17:35 or so for a 3 mile run.

Cool, you sound pretty active. :) I've completed my transition, with my distance range mainly 100-400 metres, with the occasional 60m at state and national Masters meets. Early signs from last Saturday are that I appear to have compensated for a year of ageing, but yet to prove any actual improvement in my actual times - they started out about the same as last year (but slightly better age grading ;) ).

But it's early in the season, and I don't think I've fully integrated my specialised off season training yet (which will require a lot more repetition).

I did finish my winter season on a good note with a 5k PB of 23:31 2 weeks ago - a time I certainly haven't seen in the past 20 years, if ever. A combination of good fitness, a fast, but not perfectly flat course and a well timed coffee appear to be the winning combination! :D I was never great at distance, but slowly improving with age. More built for speed. :)
