I believe in Mystic the From name is based on your user account and whether the netmail base is set to use Real Names or not.

If you wanted to put whatever you wanted in the From field you'd have to use something like GoldEd which you can use alongside Mystic.

By change the from field I assume you mean at the time of posting a message? mutil will do this if you write out the message first and then post it using the program.

If you mean an existing message.. dunno sorry.

I had a fidonet address that no longer is a part of fidonet (NET299) and have had to get a new address (NET220). I needed to be able to areafix/filefix to remove all areas that I had applied to. However I was unable to find a way to do it with Mystic. I even tried setting up a FDN for NET299 with a netmail message base and added it to my nodelist...no such luck, and maybe that ability is not included within mystic

    thanks

I'm guessing you removed your 299 address from your Mystic system *before* attempting to do this?

Since this is temporary, try re-entering the original address as one of your system AKAs, setup a temporary separate netmail area for only that address (so it can be removed after without messing anything else up), then while IN that netmail area, send a netmail to your uplink's areafix with your password as the subject line, and "-ALL" without quotes in the message body (since Mark uses Synchronet). Then you can remove the 299 address and netmail area once again.

I'm positive it can be done with Mystic, either way.

    Nick

thankfully mark took care if them on his end. i did what you mentioned here without luck. in the 299 area i did attempt to send netmail, but the reply still came back to 220...i even temporsrily added the 299 back to my nodelist but no luck. oh well maybe ill write a mpl to try it out.
    thanks for your help!

If the reply came back to 220, then you sent the netmail as 220 still. You may not have known you did it, but that's how netmail works.

Either way, you shouldn't need an MPL to do any of that for you. Now that you have 220 shut off, get rid of any configuration you have for it on your BBS, and 229 should be all that's left for Fidonet.
