• MRC?

From Shurato@21:2/148 to All on Wednesday, February 07, 2024 21:11:00
Is there an updated version of this that I could run? I haven't seen a location to download it from yet. I'm running Python 2 with my Mystic
Install, which is just for MRC.

Come grab the latest alpha from The Bottomless Abyss. It's not yet at release-ready stage but it will allow you to test all the new features I've implemented in the past couple months like SSL, themes, wide-screen support, etc.

It ill be in the MRC Releases file section on the board at bbs.bottomlessabyss.net:2023

    Cheers!

I was sorta joking when I said "it's the replacement for MRC" but it really does have advantages over MRC and I think there's more discussion going on in there than in MRC.

I'll have to check it out as soon as I have some extra time... Been programming lately... Kind of consumed with that in terms of hobbies.

Is there an updated version of this that I could run? I haven't seen a location to download it from yet. I'm running Python 2 with my Mystic Install, which is just for MRC.

There are currently several problems with MRC.

The recommended solution is to install iChat. It's more stable, it's more feature-rich, and it's IRC chat for Mystic.

Well, it's being worked on as we speak and it's an alpha still, so problems are to be expected.

In the meantime, if there are problems, please make sure to send them my way so they can be addressed.

Is there a source for MRC information/source code, like a github or something? I'm running Synchronet, and echicken knocked together a client for Sync a while ago. It'd be nice to have a place to send eC or someone to make changes if it falls behind.

...How did you find this place?

    It's awesome, Stack. Can't make everyone happy - and the improvements are VERY well received. For me, I personally like;

    encryption
    user credentials
    /mentions
    colors on arrows
    themes

... It's a really great addition and I don't experience and noticeable issues even on the alpha - lot's of users, and BBSes, appreciate the dev and anticipate future changes and a stable release when ready!!

    - It's the sauce!!

eC have the MRC client implementation in Synchronet directly.

There is no GIT for the client and the latest release is always available on The Bottomless Abyss and distributed on all Phenom distro boards. eC is already aware of all the details. Anyone who wants to contribute can reach out to me and we can arrange things, access to the dev wiki and such.

I doubt it, but they should. The default server is slackers, which is owned by my friend Gngrdr3dm4n, and there's only like 6 BBSs connected to it.
