The Search feature is superb, bar none. You can start a search
with say "User", and then narrow down the search results with
"Subj" or a string in the body of the message, for example.

And its overall performance like a database for messages is far
    better than manipulating qwk packets.

    Hi all,

My idea is to have a point node off my main node on fidonet and fsxnet and was just interested in what others use to read & poll FTN-style netmail/echomail on Windows & Linux.

I like WinPoint (http://www.winpoint.org/) but some of it is in Dutch and I don't think it supports CRAM-MD5.

Just wanted to gauge what people use so I can try it out!

    Thanks,
    Nick

Actually german. Translation is missing for the integrated file request editor and the hatch assistent. Everything else should be in english. Will fix these two when I find time.

    I don't think it supports CRAM-MD5.

No it doesnt. Mainly, because it think its pointless nowadays as MD5 is no way secure.

Yes it does. Here is a clip from one of my logs:
    14.02.22 23:36:26 BNUL OPT CRAM-MD5-9ccf130a74cbb7cc607492199d318cee

Unfortunately, it just reports what the other side offers. It is not using it.

I had no idea what this was until I stumbled upon it one day. Added it to the Renegade BBS home page bbs utils links.

Its been there for 28 years ;) Damn I am old ...

Can this be used like InternetREX? Toss mail via binkp and let everything else do the tossing and such and be nothing more than a transport and a node catch?

If I remember right, it isn't a "server", but it will poll another system for mail via binkp and other methods. So I'd imagine you could probably set it up as a PVT node if you didn't care to use it as a point.

Then again, I could be confusing this with OpenXP, which is similar and also includes NNTP support.

I installed both around the same time to check them out. I just didn't have a long term use for them. The main differences I noticed that pertained to my interest were that OpenXP has NNTP support, Winpoint doesn't.. and Winpoint has much better UTF-8 support. *shrug*

Both of them performed well in their own regard, though.

    Nick
