I enjoyed Mechcommander a lot. Microprose made some really remarkable games using the licence. That was also the single biggest computer game by size at the point, I think. When installed on the hard disk, it came in at just over
1 gig. All those voxel graphics and SFX... Nowadays a game being 1 gig is nothing.

And with my 2400 baud modem (1st modem), I remember waiting around 20 minutes to download a 1 megabyte (I think) file..

Has anyone played Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries? It's refreshing to play a MW
game after 4 so long ago. There's a new one coming out this summer focusing
on the Clan invasion. If your familiar with the Warrior Trilogy from Battletech, MW5 offers you the chance to join House Davion during the
invasion of Laio space sparking the Forth succession War. It's a solid game
    and uses the lore well.

Wish I could say I have, but when I did give it a try my computer said "nope" and that was the end of that.

I'm way behind on Mechwarrior content, but I've also never been too good at the games. Just have fond memories of playing MechCommander with friends in high school.

I'd like to try this, but I'm so sick of games... I've yet to find anything that's even been remotely fun for me aside from Kakarot, which I haven't
played in many months... I haven't had fun with games since the original PS1 days. There's got to be something that would keep my interest that doesn't require quick reflexes or aiming.

I don't play as many as I used to, either. I'm often just invested in one or two at a time. Maybe that's just me getting older, but really I just have a
lot of other stuff I'd like to do that keeps me from playing so much.

Mechwarrior was a big part of my life when I was younger, so there's a lot of appeal there. I can't get over Macross either, so I'm freqently using what
were the 'unseen' mechs, despite thei I also played 2 a lot on Mplayer and 3 on MSN Gaming Zone, so I've got a lot of good and bad memories
    of my first online games.

If you liked earlier Mechwarrior games, you It follows Battletech lore quite accurately, has tons of mods, and even has co-op so you don't have to go everything alone. In fact some missions you'll actually want
a human backing you up instead of the base AI.

I quickly skimmed what you wrote there and thought it was something about flat Earth, and I had to re-read it slowly.. :P

I've noticed that from some of his posts... He's using ftelnet to connect
via SSL. I'm not sure why some of his text disappears.
