DM / Rampage: I know the runs are XLR cables but am unsure beyond
that; I'll have to do some more research. Definitely worth digging
up a floor plate and pulling the plug off the board to check.
Let us know how it goes! Now we're all invested. :-)
Picking this thread back up as I was finally able to get into the building and do some testing.
Note, this is just for the "worst offender" line. I believe I've isolated the issue to somewhere in the line between the microphone and the XLR jack. I finally got to where the jack is and unplugged the mic and there is no excess audio.
Looking at the line, it's super thin and there's a section where the rubber/sheath is gone so the ground wire looks exposed. It was also coiled up and zip-tied. Spreading the cable out made no change so now I'm going to need to go back and test with the ferite.
At least I don't have to go chase the wire from the box to the board... at least I hope I don't.
